Our Team

In our Office and Showroom at 4 Invermay Road (in the Tramsheds Building), you can meet with Lucy Murfet our Events and Operations Coordinator. Lucy can even coordinate a meeting with our sister businesses such as Matson Catering should you wish to explore their service as an option too.

At the Warehouse (in our original site at 295 Invermay Road), you’ll meet Nathan Sherman our Warehouse Manager, supported by a team who clean and maintain our quality equipment.

On Site, you’ll likely meet Ben Weeding, our operational supervisor supported by our setup and packdown crews.

Our History

Started in 1987 in Tasmania, by Alan and Helene Weeding supplying party goods and pole marquees for events back when ‘party’ covered just about all occasions.

As clearspan marquees become available with companies like Hoecker, the team built strong relationships in business and community event circles with a dedication to asking the right questions to help ensure a smooth event on the day. Helene and Alan’s son, James joined the business and bringing a new range of experience after working in the industry interstate for several years. He soon became a leader in the business and accepted the national award for Event Hire Company at HRIA in 2021.

In 2018, Weeding Hire acquired Tassie Instant Marquees and in 2022, after 35 years in business, Weeding Hire was sold to Matson Hospitality Group, a collaboration of local brands including Matson Catering, The Gorge Restaurant, The Basin Café, Joanna’s Jams and the Tramsheds Function Centre. MHG have a love for all things Tasmanian and desire to invest in providing a refreshed chapter for these businesses that have served past owners and their customers so well across many decades.
